James Charles Pye remembers that David Pye and family lived at 8 Somerset Avenue, Newtown from 1938 to 1941 and then his father James Thorpe Pye brought the property off them. David Pye went to Newtown School for this same period

James Thorpe Pye and Mary Jorgensen met at the hotel now called Trekkers in Upper Cuba Street, (just up from Vivian and Cuba Street intersection). James was a porter at the "People's Palace", what it was called in those days and Mary was over from Nelson for a visit to Wellington and they met, details from James Charles Pye
