Patricia Bird nee Siddle says her Grandfather lost his legs in a mining accident.
He spent his time in a wheelchair, reading. His Collection of books are in Wanganui. 1851 census he was a lead miner living at Rigg. Dorothy Burnell`s certificate show 35 Dacre St. Mine 3 Dacre St is a transcription.

Obituaries
Another old Wanganui resident has passed away, this time in the person of Mr Jonathon Siddle who died at his residence, Victoria Avenue, yesterday morning, at the age of 63. Deceased, who was a native of Middleborough, Yorkshire, arrived in the colony in 1879. After residing in Napier for some time, he came to Wanganui, where he resided until the time of his death. Mr Siddle took a great interest in literature, and was the possessor of a splendid library. Deceased leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters to mourn their loss, and to them we offer our sincere sympathy.

The death of another old resident of Wanganui has to be reported in the person of Mrs Siddle, who passed away yesterday at the age of 70 years. The deceased lady, who was the relict of the late Mr Jonathan Siddle, kept a fruit and greengrocery business for many years. She was very well known and highly respected, and the news of her death will be received with much regret.
