Arthur began working for Sargood Son and Ewan at the age of 16, boarding in Wellington with Norman and William. After 12 years he lost his job in the depression and went to Cambridge to learn Dairy Farming. His mother then set him and (Katherine Veronica) Vera on a Dairy Farm at Te Horo, but Arthur and Vera did not get on, so Arthur left after two years. His mother than put him on 63 acres near Te Horo, running cows and pigs. He died in 1984.

Bennett Arthur Edward - On August 28, 1984 at his home, Kapanui Road, Waikanae, dearly loved husband of Margaret, loved father and father in law of Marjorie and Robert Thomson (Dunedin) and Helen and Alister Vowell (Johnsonville), grandfather of Cushla, Nigel, David, Jennifer and Paul. RIP. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of Fatima Parata St Waikanae on Friday August 31, at 10.30 am thereafter interment at the Waikanae Cemetery.
