Note for:   Elisabeth Gael Known As Gael Stewart,   24 SEP 1940 - 4 SEP 2005         Index

Burial:
     Date:   7 SEP 2005
     Place:   Makara Cemetery, Ashes Interred

Individual Note:
In Gael's third (senior) year of Nurses Training in Palmerston North she went flatting with her friends Hilda Stewart nee Osbourne and Anne Crighton. They had a house in Albert Street, Palmerston North not far from Palmerston North Public Hospital. The house by today's standards would be classed as uninhabitable. From the start the toilet kept blocking, you could take the wall between the sitting room and main bedroom, in the doorway, and shake it and it moved a good 3 to 4 inches. The bathroom was very primitive with a rusty bath and an old metal pull the chain type toilet cistern. There were holes in the floor of the sitting room with an old (very old) carpet over it

Jamie met Gael at Palmerston North when Jim Stewart (no relation) was putting the microwave link between Wellington and Auckland and they (Jamie and Jim)went to a dance together. Jamie father had just passed away before this dance.(James Thorpe Pye passed away 8 October 1960)
