Lee Margie Jean. Passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on July 9th, 1999; aged 76 years. Loving mum and mother-in-law of Alan and Sue. Loved nana of Rachel and Tony. Loved great grandmother of Alisha, Pania and Heleena. Beloved sister and sister-in-law of Ted and Rosalie, and loved by their family. Mr R. C. Pye
The death has occurred suddenly at the Karapiro Hydro Village of Mr Richard Charles Pye, who has been associated with the power station since it's early stages of construction.
The late Mr Pye was born in Wellington where he was educated and grew up. He joined the merchant navy and served for 13 years. After been married in England he and his wife resided at Wellington until 1940 when they move to Cambridge. Two years were spent at Kairangi and then Mr Pye joined the construction staff at the Karapiro Hydro project, rising to the position of head storeman. Aged 64 years, he was due to retire next year.
As a good handyman, Mr Pye was always willing to help out and he had a number of staunch friends.
He is survived by his wife and family of two sons, Messrs David and Carl Pye, of Hamilton and Mrs Ian Pullar, of Christchurch. There are five grandchildren
