Recent Wedding
Greener - Tattersall
All Saints Church, Wanganui East, was the scene of a pretty wedding on the afternoon of December 16, the occasion being the marriage of Eileen Joyce, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Tattersall, Wanganui East, and Bernard Alfred, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Greener, of Wanganui. The church was beautifully decorated with pink sweet peas and white lilies, by friends of the bride.
Rev. A. F. Parr officiated at the ceremony and Miss L. Dunlop was the organist. During the signing of the register, Mr. E. Paynter, of Napier, beautifully rendered the solo "Ava Maria."
The bride who was escorted by her father, made a dainty picture as she entered the church in her lovely gown of white embossed ninon over white satin. The neckline was edged with narrow faggoting which was also featured on the pointed cuffs and around the long circular train which fell from a point at the waistline. A white veil was worn and was caught to the head with a halo of pearls and orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of Christmas lilies, white sweet peas and carnations.
In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Patricia Kenny (chief) and Dora Christie, of Palmerston North, who wore dainty frocks of pink and green floral organdie respectively. Their frocks were designed with very full skirts and puff sleeves and a heart-shaped neckline edged with pleating. They wore silver shoes and halo's of pleated net and flowers and carried bouquets of pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern.
Mr. Len Smith, New Plymouth, attended as best man and Mr. G. Tattersall, Palmerston North, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Acting as ushers were Mr. E. Poynter? and Mr. R. Berthold.
On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by the bridegroom's small sister Pamela.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Rendezvous, where about 100 guests attended. The tables were arranged in pink and green effect and the basket shaped wedding cake was superbly iced by Mrs. E. Mitchell.
To receive the guests Mrs. Tattersall wore a navy ensemble with navy hat and carried a fur stole. She wore a shoulder spray of pink and mauve sweat peas, with maidenhair fern. Mrs. Greener assisted her, wearing a turquoise blue ensemble with navy accessories and a fur stole. Her shoulder spray was of pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern.
For travelling the bride chose a peacock blue costume. Her accessories were navy and she carried a fur necklet (the gift of the bridegroom).
