NEW SWIMMING CLUB
FORMED AT ISLAND BAY
As an outcome of a meeting, convened by Messrs Perry and Harper, held at Island Bay last evening, a new swimming club has come into being in Wellington. Mr. G. S. Hill, of the Wellington centre, who occupied the chair, fully set out the advantages of such a club.
Officers were elected as follows :— President, Mr. Hindmarsh; vice-presidents, Dr. Deamer, Messrs T. Shields, P. J. O'Regan, Stuckey, R. Keene, R. P. Greville, A. A. Whitelaw, A. Laurenson, W. C. Chatfield, and H. Ivory; secretary, Mr. Perry; treasurer, Mr. Harper; auditor, Mr. C. Johnson; timekeeper, Mr. A. Laurenson; committee, Messrs J. Beckett, Kingwell, Fitzness, C. Purvis, and H. Hansen. The election of captain, vice-captain, starter, and delegates to the centre will take place later in the season.

The annual meeting of the Island Bay Amateur Swimming Club was held last evening, Mr. G. Beckett presiding.
    The report and balance-sheet for the past year were read and adopted.
    Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. Hindmarsh; vice-presidents, Dr. Deamer, Messrs. Ivory, O'Regan, Chatfield, Laurenson, Stuckey, Greville, Shields, Whitelaw, and Keene; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. Collins; captain, Mr. L. Smith; vice-captain, Mr. H. Hinds, committee. Messrs. R. Collins, L. Smith, H. Hinds. J. Beckett, J. Harper, C. Perry. H. Hanson, C. Purvis, L. Keene, and Miss E. Harper.
    A hearty vote of thanks was extended to the late secretary and treasurer, also to the committee.
