The death occurred at Greymouth, this morning, of Mrs. Margaret Maria Auton, a native of Kumara, aged 69 years. Deceased, who had been ailing for the past month had been a residence of Cobden, for 40 years. Her husband, Thomas Auton, predeceased her 13 years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs J. F. White (Palmerston North), and one son, James (Cobden); also four sisters, Mesdames J. McFarlane (Kumara), E. Mitchell (Blackwater), A. Richardson and P. Prosser (Sydney), and eight brothers, Frank Morgan (Kumara), Louis Morgan (Greymouth), James (Petone), John (New Plymouth), Thomas (Dargaville), Peter (Perth), and Robert and William (Sydney). The funeral will take place at Karoro cemetery on Thursday afternoon, leaving her late residence, Clifford Street, Cobden, at 2 p.m.

The Grey Star 17th April 1924 shows
While undergoing an operation yesterday morning at the Grey River Hospital, Mr Tom Auton, a resident of Cobden, who had been employed by the Railway Department, died just as the anasethetic was being administered. Attempts to restore animation failed. The late Mr Auton, who was 50 years of age, was born in England. He leaves a widow, a daughter (Mrs Jas White, of Palmerston North), and a son (Mr James Auton, of Cobden). His mother resides in Christchurch, and there are nine sisters and four brothers. The funeral will take place tomorrow.

Margaret Maria Auton nee Morgan death notice confirms one of the Louis's is a brother. According to her death notice he lived in Greymouth in 1938

The Kumara Times 17th August 1896 shows
An accident happened near Messrs Wilson and Co's. saw-mill at the Railway Junction, on Friday last. L. Morgan, one of the contractors logging for the mill, was in charge of two horses attached to a truck loaded with logs, and while proceeding down an incline towards the mill the break failed to act, the truck overtook the horses, the consequence being an upset and one of the horses killed. Happily Morgan escaped without injury. Unsure if the right L. Morgan?
