After being presented with the Royal Humaine Society's medal last evening Mr William Wallace was button-holed by a number of enthusiastic admirers and borne willy-nilly to a snug palour in Kellor's Hotel. The health of the hero was toasted with gusto, etc, and a cheery fire and other things kept the little company in good humour for an hour or two. Unsure if correct one?

-
The death of Mr William Wallace, licensee of Bremond's Hotel, Kumara, occurred at Kumara Hospital yesterday afternoon from an attack of pneumonia. Deceased had been ailing for some days from what he thought was influenza. On Tuesday he was removed to the hospital in a very bad way. Deceased was a robust young man of 35 years, and one would have taken a lease of his life. The late Mr Wallace was a native of Auckland, but for many years had been a resident of the Coast, where he was well known. He took an active part in sports, and was a member of the Foresters' Lodge. He leaves a wife and four little children, the eldest being six. Mrs Wallace, who has had much sorrow in recent years will have the sympathy of the community in her sudden and sad affliction.
